Way of working

Our thorough production process enables us to produce and deliver top-quality cast iron components. From sourcing raw materials to final delivery, our approach is comprehensive and efficient. We also provide casting services for other processors outside the Gietburg Group, to ensure the best solutions for all our clients.

Our process contains the following steps:

1. Sourcing raw materials and creating moulds

We source high-quality iron from trusted suppliers, including scrap from the metal industry and raw materials. These mainly recycled materials are certified and used in our melt through careful addition processes. We work with various types of iron, including nodular iron, grey iron (lamellar iron), ADI and black malleable iron.

With advanced sand moulding techniques, we create precise moulds from clay-bonded sand, which are used to shape the molten iron. Our vertical moulding lines enhance efficiency, allowing for faster casting and high precision. Afterwards, the sand is recycled. We reuse each grain of sand up to ten times, which reduces waste and environmental impact.

2. Casting process

The molten iron is poured into the sand moulds, where it cools and solidifies to form robust castings. This step ensures the durability and desired properties of the cast iron parts, which meet the highest industry standards.

3. Finishing

Once the castings have cooled, they undergo a finishing process that may include grinding, blasting, fluxing, deburring, crack inspection, and dipping.

These steps ensure each part is defect-free and ready for the next stage. We employ advanced techniques such as fluxing, annealing, and mechanical processing. Most finishing processes are handled at our own facilities, but for specific or more complex requirements, machining is done by Doesburg Components, keeping the entire process in-house. This ensures that the customer receives a ready-to-use component that is fully finished, painted, and assembled.

4. Quality control

We ensure component quality at multiple stages of production using the latest measurement tools, including spectral analysis, thermal analysis, sand preparation, and DHS image analysis. Additional quality controls, such as MPI (crack inspection), ultrasonic testing, and 3D scanning, are available to meet specific customer requirements. Finished components are thoroughly cleaned in our in-house facilities to uphold the highest cleanliness standards, enhancing overall quality and readiness for assembly. Our logistics process includes maintaining buffer stock, direct digital connections with customers, and utilizing our own transporters for secure delivery.
