Sustainability

Committed to making heavy industry lighter and greener

Sustainability is key to our work. Our goal is create lighter components, cut down on energy use and reduce emissions, to make heavy industry lighter and greener. We are committed to reducing our environmental impact through innovative practices. This commitment helps us create lighter, more efficient parts, contributing to a better future. By prioritising the reuse and recycling of raw materials, minimising waste, and reducing our carbon footprint, we aim to lead the way in sustainable manufacturing.

Sustainable machining

In our machining and finishing divisions Doesburg Components and Brinks Components, we focus on creating lighter products and maximising the reuse of materials. Our recycling initiatives include the recovery and pressing of metal shavings, which are then melted down and reused efficiently. Additionally, we recycle rinse tanks and employ the latest machinery to reduce energy consumption and waste. We reuse 96% of our raw materials and transform waste into valuable and durable products.

By continuously upgrading to more energy-efficient machines and utilising compressed air recycling, we significantly reduce our energy consumption. Our commitment to sustainability extends to working closely with customers to develop lighter products, supporting local-for-local production, and maintaining proximity to our clients to minimise transportation impacts.

Electric and energy-efficient casting

At Fonderie Laval, our shell moulding foundry, we use modern electric melting furnaces that are far more efficient than traditional coke ovens. These furnaces help reduce CO2 emissions while supporting a cleaner and more controlled casting process. For sand moulding and other casting requirements, we work with selected partners who meet our quality and sustainability standards. Across our own facilities and partner network, we focus on reducing waste, reusing materials where possible and choosing production routes that help limit transport distances and lower the overall environmental impact.
